Risk & Site Assessment
Risk Assessment
SWAPE scientists have conducted human health risk assessments and exposure evaluations for a wide variety of projects concerning chemical spills and other industrial accidents, hazardous waste sites, industrial discharges and releases, air pollution and emissions, contaminated groundwater, vapor intrusion, and other incidents of impacts to the environment. We have prepared assessments and evaluations for litigation involving personal injuries and property damage resulting from releases of chemical pollutants. SWAPE scientists have also conducted ecological risk assessments.
SWAPE risk assessors are experienced with a number of risk models used in the United States and Europe. We are also proficient with a variety of models used to estimate the fate and transport of pollutants in various environmental media. For example, we have used air dispersion models (AERMOD, AERSCREEN, ALOHA) for determining exposure point concentrations of contaminants on a large number of cases involving industrial emissions or pollution incidents.
Site Assessment
SWAPE conducts environmental site assessments involving releases of contaminants at a wide variety of sites, including commercial and industrial properties, landfills, airports and other public services, military facilities, wetlands and open space, and other locations. We have expertise in the review and characterization of environmental investigations and remediation work conducted by third parties, and have testified on the quantity and quality of work performed at sites contaminated by a variety of pollutants. We also have extensive experience in the field performing environmental investigations relating to soil, water and air pollution.
